The Infinite Now from Armand Dijcks on Vimeo.
Licensing inquiries: armand.dijcks@gmail.com
Over the past months I’ve been working with Australian photographer Ray Collins to bring his amazing oceanscapes to life in the form of cinemagraphs, a blend between photography and video. Each cinemagraph is created from one of Ray’s stills, and sets it in infinite motion, making a unique moment in time last forever.
These cinemagraphs inspired André Heuvelman from the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra to get together with pianist Jeroen van Vliet to record a very moving custom soundtrack, which I combined with a selection of the cinemagraphs.
You can see the original cinemagraphs at armanddijcks.com/cinemagraphs-waves

Star Lounge from Rael San Fratello on Vimeo.
Emerging Objects and Bold Machines: The Innovation Workshop at Stratasys have joined together to unveil one of the largest PLA based 3D printed structures built to date. The debut of this groundbreaking project is a demonstration of the architectural potential of 3D printing, particularly using the small MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D printer. The freestanding dome structure, “Star Lounge” is 8.5 feet tall with a footprint that measures approximately 11 feet by 11 feet. It is composed of 2073 hexagonal blocks printed in various translucent colors that correspond to a particular block type, which helps simplify the construction process and creates a beautiful and logical pattern of stars and hexagons that comprise 21 larger panels that are riveted together.

“PomPom Mirror” (2015) by Daniel Rozin from bitforms gallery on Vimeo.
Daniel Rozin
“PomPom Mirror”, 2015
928 faux fur pom poms, 464 motors, control electronics, video camera, custom software, microcontroller, wooden armature
48 x 48 x 18 in / 121.9 x 121.9 x 45.7 cmRozin’s anthropomorphic “PomPom Mirror” features a synchronized array of 928 spherical faux fur puffs. Organized into a three-dimensional grid of beige and black, the sculpture is controlled by hundreds of motors that build silhouettes of viewers using computer-vision. Along its surface, figures appear as fluffy animal-like representations within the picture plane, which is made permeable by a ‘push-pull’ forward and backward motion of meshed ‘pixels’. Ghostly traces fade and emerge, as the motorized composition hums in unified movement, seemingly alive and breathing as a body of its own.
FreeCAD talk at FOSDEM 2015 from Yorik van Havre on Vimeo.
A talk about FreeCAD I did at FOSDEM in Brussels in Feb. 2015. The slides are available at yorik.uncreated.net/archive/talks/freecad-fosdem15.pdf
This is a remastered version from the original published by FOSDEM available at video.fosdem.org/2015/main_track-hardware/ where I added the slides and raised the audio volume.
